A County with French Influence

A settler and inhabitant whose last name was Aynor.

A descendant of French Huguenots and native of Georgetown, SC,  Peter Horry (pronounced O-ree) was a Revolutionary War officer and patriot, and the namesake of our county.

Mary Aynor Lewis figures prominently in the settling, founding and naming of the town. She married and raised 11 children on a tract of  land  that now includes the town .

Members of Aynor High School's Anchor Club leads the annual parade which welcomes the Fall Festival now in its 44th year. The festival draws almost 

 25,000 festival goers.

In the Fall of 2026, Aynor High School will celebrate its 100th birthday marking a century as the  beloved educational institution known to thousands of Blue Jacket graduates.
